Adeline steps into the role of Project Manager Design
As LCL continues to grow, so does the way we design our data centers. New sites, expanding customer needs and increasingly complex projects call for a broader view from the very start. That’s exactly where Adeline’s new role comes in. After joining LCL as Junior Project Manager and later progressing to Project Manager, Adeline worked on several expansion and renovation projects, including the live cooling upgrade at LCL Brussels-West. Today, as she steps into her role as Project Manager Design, she works across multiple projects, contributing to feasibility studies, technical tender reviews, design standardisation and embedding sustainability by design.
Building on experience
“The goal is to look beyond individual projects. Every project has its lessons learned and we can integrate them into the next one. In this new role, I can focus on improving every new project with lessons learned from the past.” Choices about redundancy, scalability and sustainability all start during the design phase. “You can’t simply add those things afterwards,” Adeline explains. “The first design decisions set the direction for the entire project.”

Because she works across several projects at once, Adeline can spot opportunities to reuse successful ideas and avoid repeating past challenges. That broader perspective also helps LCL continue building on years of experience. “We know what level of quality we want to deliver for our customers,” she says. “Rather than relying on standard supplier solutions, we define our own standards based on what we’ve learned over the years.” Those standards ensure consistency for both our customers and our technicians. Familiar design principles and naming conventions make it easier for people to work safely and efficiently across all LCL sites.
Sustainability by design
Alongside standardisation, sustainability is becoming an increasingly important part of these first phases of the design process. “That means comparing materials, looking at their full life cycle and making informed choices before the design is finalised.” For Adeline, sustainability is about understanding the impact of every decision rather than focusing on a single metric. “It’s not as simple as choosing one material because it has lower CO₂ emissions. There are many factors to consider, and that’s exactly why we want to evaluate them properly during the design phase.”
“We don’t treat sustainability as an add-on. It’s embedded in our design process from day one.”
Looking forward
As LCL continues to grow, maintaining the same high level of quality across every site is important. By working across multiple projects, Adeline helps connect experience from one project to the next.
